Window Functions for Signal Processing

November 8, 2018

Window functions are applied to signal processing algorithms to address issues with discontinuity. Specifically, they are used to prevent spectral noise generated by the fast Fourier transform (FFT) algorithm. Applying a window before computing the FFT can help to reduce remote band noise, but can also introduce distortion of its own.

In this course, you will learn

  • The purpose of window functions
  • Characteristics used to describe a window function
  • Window selection criteria
  • A complete table of window functions
